On the morning of February 21, Essence Grand Cruise joyfully welcomed the 11 Clipper Race teams to Halong Bay, a destination in the 5th leg of the Asia-Pacific route. This leg followed a challenging 4,515 nautical miles journey from Coral Sea, Australia. The race featured the participation of nearly 400 sailors on 11 sailing boats, divided into 8 legs with 16 individual races and 6 ocean crossings. In the 7th race, the 5th leg, the HaLong Bay, Vietnam team finished in 5th place and is currently standing 6th in the overall rankings.

After nearly 2 weeks in Halong City, on the morning of March 2, at the Halong International Cruise Port, Bai Chay Ward, Halong City, Quang Ninh Province, the 11 Clipper Race teams officially set sail for the 8th race, the 5th leg, departing from Ha Long Bay.

The kickoff ceremony for the 8th race, the 5th leg of the journey to Cau Chau Port (Chau Hai City, Guangdong Province, China) began with traditional rituals, including the customary rope pulling ceremony combined with lion dance, parachute performance, Halong cruise parade, and sailing boat parade. After the parade, the Clipper Race boats will leave Halong Bay and embark on a new journey.
